Journey to Bethlehem - Visitors Undeterred by Winter's Grip

posted 13 Dec 2017, 03:46 by Totley Rise Methodist Church   [ updated 30 Apr 2018, 08:01 ]
Despite the icy blast and threat of deep snow, over 700 visitors left the comfort of their homes to visit Totley Rise Methodist Church and the annual walk-through drama "Journey to Bethlehem".  Although these 30 minute tours are entirely free and continue to be our gift to the community, visitors donated over £400 to St Luke's Hospice.  For the first time, we provided Guest Book sheets for comments and some of these are reproduced below:

"Really wonderful - a great start to Christmas"

"Our annual Christmas treat and time for mindfulness, to reflect on what it's all about.  Many thanks"

"It was really nice to do it !  I'm from Germany and we do not have something similar, so I really enjoyed it !"

"Very impressed !  Scenery very effective.  We appreciate all your hard work.  Thank you"

"What a wonderful start to Advent.  We loved it"

.....and this from one of our youngest visitors....."What did you like best ?"  " The baby Jesus"  "Really, why ?"  "Actually, I liked the sweets best !" (Alyssia aged 5)

A big Thank You to all our visitors and to all those who made this possible - from actors and marketplace stallholders, set construction, hospitality, mothers and babies, providers of refreshments and car park attendants.
