ADVICE CENTRE
The advice service at Totley Rise Methodist Church has had another successful year
and has seen more than 250 clients.
We have assisted a large number of people to obtain
disability benefits—Incapacity Benefit, Disability Living Allowance, Attendance Allowance
and Carer’s Allowance. We have regular requests for help with claiming Council Tax
Benefit and Housing Benefit, and checking entitlement when changes in circumstances
occur. We also provide a debt advice service which is always in demand. The bulk
of debts are credit and store card expenditure, personal loans and bank overdrafts.
We help clients assess their current financial position and look at their options.
These can range from making repayment arrangements with creditors to filing for bankruptcy.
We
can also help with employment, consumer housing, relationship and all welfare benefit
issues.
Advice is provided by Dave Owen, Outreach Advice Worker for Woodseats Advice
Centre. It takes place from 10 am to 12 noon on Tuesdays. It is a drop-
If you
have a problem and want advice, please call in. The service is completely confidential
and free.
