Casting The Net
The meeting about this proposal to reorganise the Sheffield Circuit was held in the church at 2pm on Wednesday 18th October 2023. The consultation is ongoing.
You may be aware that the Sheffield Methodist Circuit has struggled in recent years due to the way it is organised, a shortage of Ministers and decreasing income to cover its costs. A number of individual Methodist Church around Sheffield have also been struggling with dwindling numbers and decreasing income, which means that they put a lot of effort into just keeping going, rather than feeling they are fully engaged in serving their local communities and sharing the love of God. In order to overcome these issues, the Sheffield Methodist Circuit is looking to reorganise itself to work more efficiently and to better support local Methodist Churches to engage in the work of God's Kingdom in their local communities.
Casting the net on the other side is the beginning of this process. It is a document suggesting a way of reorganisation and the Circuit Leadership want to hear from the local churches about what we think of it: what we think will work; what we think needs looking at further; any suggestion we have to improve the way the Circuit serves its purpose. It is important for us to consider the suggestions in this document and give out feedback, because we are a part of the circuit and the whole purpose is to better enable churches like ours to fulfil the Mission of Christ.
